Installing PostgreSQL on Ubuntu 16.04

Installation

  1. sudo apt-get update -qq && sudo apt-get install -y libpq-dev postgresql postgresql-contrib -y

  2. sudo service postgresql start


Create User & Assign Password

  1. sudo -u postgres createuser -P -e -d johndoe


Create Database

  1. sudo -u postgres createdb my-awesome-database


Accessing psql

  1. sudo -u postgres psql
